Fossil Park Registration Practices

Common Registration Periods

Fossil Park Youth Baseball and Softball host two seasons each year.  We have a fall season which is primarily instructional and a spring season which consists of instructional and competitive league play.  The fall season is great youth baseball and especially for those that are moving up in league age categories.  This is a period where they can become familiar with various changes in the rules of the game as well as getting accustom to the changes in the playing field dimensions which they will encounter in regular season play in the following spring.  Kids often gain experience from those already playing in the various age divisions.

The Fall Season Registration Period usually begins around the second week of August with actual game play starting in September and runs through the second or third week of November.  On occasion teams may enter local "Friendship Tournaments" in order to gain more experience in real tournament situations. Birth Certificates and current St. Petersburg Sports Recreation Cards are required at time of registration.

The Spring/Summer Season Registration Period begins the first week after New Years with game play beginning the last week of February.  This period usually consist of a 20 game season with post-season tournament play taking place in the competitive divisions. Post-season play usually begins the third or fourth week of May and qualifying teams may play on up through July or August (depending on the affiliations).  Fossil Park will post actual registrations times and dates in advance for each of the seasons above and on our Home Page prior to the start of each season.  Birth Certificates and current St. Petersburg Sports Recreation Cards are required at time of registration. PLAYER APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Download the complete  Player Baseball Registration Package or the Softball Player Application Package to your computer and fill out at your leisure. File includes Player Registration Form, Media Release Form, Parent Responsibilities and Parent Code of Ethics Forms (Adobe Reader 5.0 or Higher Required) These files have forms so that you can type in the blanks and print the complete package.  You can also complete and print only the forms that you need.  Beginning in 2006, if you have already completed a Media Release Form, you do not have to submit a new form.  All new players must complete the entire packet.  You must bring the completed application, a valid City of St. Petersburg Recreation Card or permit, and Original or Certified Copy of the players' Birth Certificate.
