Pick Your Poison...Lovejoy or Young
(June 15, 2005)
Mike Lovejoy (left) draws an intentional walk in game 2 vs. Pinellas
Park. Mike has gained respect from his Pinellas Park opponents
over the last few years and Coach McKay wasn't taking any chances. In the first game,
Mike was walked twice
before smashing a line drive into the deep center field fence. It
was "pick your poison"... face Lovejoy or pitch to Warren
Young who followed Mike in the line-up. As it turned out, Warren
drove in another run with a powerful double to deep left-center
field. Warren had also hit a home run in game 1 after Pinellas
Park pitched around Mike and gave up the walk.
Morgan
Harris Is Fossil Park's 12 Yr. Old Offensive MVP
(June. 16, 2005)
With all the strategies going on around whether to pitch to Lovejoy or
Young, it was Morgan Harris that really had the "hot" bat in
this tournament. Morgan went 7 for 11 in the tournament that
included 3 singles, 4 doubles and 7 RBIs batting from the No. 2 spot
in the line-up. With an offensive performance like that, there
is no question of his deserving reward. Keep up the great work
Morgan and good luck in the "Keys".
Scott and Lovejoy Share Defensive MVP Honors
(June. 16, 2005)
Mike Lovejoy (left) and Travis Scott (right) received the defensive
honors. Travis opened the tournament vs. Pinellas Park where he
received the win and Mike closed out the final 3 innings. Travis
was called upon again in the game vs. a tough Northwest Team to pitch
the final 2 and 1/3 innings and was able to shut down their hi-powered
hitting. Mike appeared again in the second game vs. Pinellas Park
to get the final out to preserve a 10 run lead to end the game after 4
innings. He also pitched the final 5 2/3 innings vs. Northwest
giving up only 2 earned runs on 4 total hits effectively shutting down
Northwest's offense.
